This course provides a comprehensive understanding of data analysis using Microsoft Power BI, including creating visualizations, utilizing the Power BI Service, and exploring the Power BI Mobile App. It is designed to equip students with practical skills for transforming data into insightful reports and dashboards.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand what Business Intelligence is and the various platforms available
• Distinguish the different features available on Power BI desktop and their functionalities
• Perform data source connections to external storage like Excel and SQL Server, and import data into reports
• Conduct data querying to extract and transform data using formatting and summarization techniques
• Apply data relationships and perform DAX queries to create calculated columns, tables, and measures
• Create dashboards and reports using learned techniques
• Connect to big data systems like Hadoop and extract data
• Use the Developer API to create custom visuals
• Distinguish features and use cases of the Power BI mobile app

Prerequisites

Excellent knowledge of relational databases and reporting; awareness of key business priorities like revenue and profitability is desirable; familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Advanced Excel. Basic knowledge of data warehouse schemas (star and snowflake) and exposure to programming constructs are advantageous but not mandatory.
