The main purpose of the course is to give students a good understanding of data analysis with Power BI. It includes creating visualizations, using the Power BI Service, and the Power BI Mobile App.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand what is Business Intelligence and the various platforms available.
• Distinguish the different features available on the Power BI desktop and the various functionalities they provide.
• Perform data source connections to external data storage areas and import data to reports.
• Perform data querying and transform data using formatting and summarization techniques.
• Apply data relations to perform DAX queries and create calculated columns, tables, and measures.
• Create dashboards and reports with learned techniques.
• Connect to big data storage systems like Hadoop and extract data.
• Use the Developer API to create custom visuals.
• Distinguish the features and use cases of the Power BI mobile app.

Prerequisites

Excellent knowledge of relational databases and reporting. Awareness of key business priorities such as revenue and profitability is desirable. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Advanced Excel. Basic knowledge of data warehouse schema topology and exposure to basic programming constructs are advantageous but not mandatory.
